MM 5.3: Indian Cotton Portal
Huge data have been generated over several years of research on cotton at various Universities and Institutes. Arranging these data into relational databases based on each aspect and developing user friendly information retrieval system will help in effective decision making by end users such as farmers, policy makers and planners in their decision making. The proliferation of sources for digital information, advances in computing systems, and the continuing networking and communications revolution have rapidly expanded the ability to produce, process and provide access to digital information. Introduction of cotton web site would help the farming community to directly interact with scientific community to get their first hand information. The project is therefore launched for making data ware houses to support decision making as well as up graduation and maintenance of cotton website.
